Shards

Shards of crystal light
danced across the darkening sky.
My meloncholy eyes searched
for an answer that was invisible to the touch.
One star glistened, as if smiling.

Beautiful shards of crystal light
danced across the midnight sky
as my melancholy heart begins
to beg the question, Why?

Memories come flooding back
of days now come and gone.
This phase of life is now complete
it's time now to move on.

I see one tiny star looking down at me,
it's just beyond my reach.
I look up and think of all the times
I've gotten to testify and teach.

My hand goes out to touch the star
that's right within my view
But I'll have to wait to catch that star
until I am with you.

How time has passed so quickly
It's hard to understand.
But I know that I've been carried
In the hallow of His hand.

He's kept me here and happy,
with shelter from above
to teach me things I need to know
like how to laugh and love.

I step carefully
into the next adventure of my life
I pray that perhaps one day
I will become your wife.

Together we can do the things
we couldn't do alone
Like catch that star
that sweetly on us shone.
